The Duck Derby is a day-long family and children's festival featuring food, games, and activities for children. The day is highlighted by the Derby - the release of 10,000 numbered yellow rubber ducks into the Reedy River. They race over the Falls, under the Bridge, and end in the pool in the heart of Falls Park. Winning ducks are caught, tagged, and matched with their adoptive "parents", and those parents are notified of their winnings.
In 2008 the Derby gave away 15 prizes including top prize of $2500 cash. More importantly, $16,000 was raised for distribution to 12 charities.
